I write on my way back from two days of work in Strasbourg, after a number of debates in the European Parliament’s plenary session: among other, we discussed relations between Turkey and the European Union (here are the video and the text of my remarks), our work on Syria (here are the videos of my opening remarks and my reply in the debate, here is the text), and on strengthening our cooperation on security and defence (here I explain our proposals, here the debate).
Yesterday morning, in a meeting of the College of Commissioner, we adopted an important package of proposals for our development cooperation: they will allow us to work together, as Europeans, to turno into practice the Sustainable Development Goals pushed forward last year by the United Nations, with the Agenda 2030. Today I discussed these proposals with the Parliament’s Development Committee. Here is the press conference.
Finally, today we opened the celebrations for the ten years of cooperation between the European Union and the Council of Europe, together with Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland – cooperation on human rights, the rule of law, democracy in our continent and our region.
